Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 in 1980) is an American performer, singer, and dancer. She began her Broadway career by performing in musicals, like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael. She was in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor and actress has worked alongside actors and directors on stage and screen throughout all her life. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. This is undoubtedly a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford returns to Broadway in March 2023, where he'll play Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will be the producer and director for the production. Ashford has acted as Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon a national scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters. For two seasons, she played a prominent role in the critically acclaimed CBS comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her character Essie on You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway appearances for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her performance as Lauren In Kinky Boots. For this performance, she won a Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford has now divided her days between Los Angeles and New York.
